From Katie Rowley
Thank you for such a good turn out to watch our pickle ball demo last night in the parish hall. I hope you all enjoyed having a hit with our pro’s Andre and Sally, and it was great to have Simon the Hampshire pickle ball representative come along with his kit, and Harvey. They have lent us some paddles to use and the club has ordered 4 new batswhich will hopefully be arriving in the next couple of weeks. I have purchased some indoor pickleballs.
I hope you enjoyed the experience and are now keen to try out this new sport that is becoming so popular. A combination of short tennis, badminton and table tennis, “pickle ball” is the fastest growing sport in America. As we are able to play it in our local parish hall, I feel it is a great opportunity for tennis club members to play the game over the winter months when our courts are often too wet, or too icy like this morning!
The next 3 Thursday evenings are now fully booked. Please just turn up (in tennis kit) at 6:00-7:45pm to play lots of pickle. Games last about 10-12 minutes long, and we will have 8 at a session. I will rotate the players in groups of 4 so you will have some R&R between games. You should get about 4 or 5 games in an evening. The cost will be £10 pp. Please bring cash on the night or you can pay me by BACS. You will all be quick to pick it up, as it is easier to play than tennis!
I am going to try and book the parish hall for some DAY sessions. This is likely to be a Wednesday and/or a Friday morning in 2 hour slots (9-11 or 11:30-1:30). There will be a maximum of 8 per group session and the cost will be £10 per person. All equipment provided. I will notify all members about this once I have confirmed the booking with Anita at the parish hall, and this will start most probably in January. There will be a gentle group (RED) and a more competitive group (GREEN). I will send more information about these sessions starting in January once I have had a meeting with the parish hall.
