Following a minute’s silence to honour HM Queen Elizabeth, the Finals Day was played out for the most part in glorious sunshine. There were plenty of excellent matches, culminating in the Over 70’s Doubles keeping the spectators from their Pimm’s with a hard fought match.
It was great to see so many members during the day (if only to enjoy the Pimm’s, tea and cakes). For the record:

Congratulations to all the winners and also the runners up – there were some fantastic matches and great tennis played, with many players in more than one final (big shout out to Matt Bennett playing in 4 finals – no doubt slept well on Sunday night!).
The most improved player is an award to the player who the Committee votes as the player who has improved the most in the year, following much discussion the Committee decided that Annie deserved the award as she has improved significantly throughout the year – well done Annie.
Thank you to all the umpires (particularly Peter Mellor who pretty much umpired the whole day), the tea & cake makers and also the committee for all their hard work in making the day a truly special day – which we hope celebrated the life HM Queen Elizabeth and hope she would have approved.
