WELCOME TO OUR CLUB
Rowlands Castle Tennis Club is a small, friendly, private club set up by a group of tennis playing enthusiasts in 1973. Many of that original group are still members - and still play regularly.
We have 3 course in the village recreational area. The courts are leased from the Council, but the club is fully responsible for their maintenance. This includes cleaning, painting and resurfacing - a not inconsiderable commitment for a small village club.
Membership fees were set at a level to ensure that the long term resurfacing commitments could be met. As a result of this long term planning the club is financially secure and yet still offers tremendous value to members.
Most of the tennis played at Rowlands is social, with club sessions held throughout the summer from 6pm on Monday & Friday evenings. Members can simply turn up and play. All these sessions are "supervised" by a volunteer who organises those attending into suitable "fours" to make sure everyone gets a chance to play with a variety of other members."
We also run a number of socially biased American Tournaments over the summer, together with events for Junior members, including a Parent/ Child competition.
For the competitively minded we run an annual knock out tournament - with all the usual categories, but also several age group restricted ones. And in recent years we have entered teams in the Portsmouth & District Tennis Leagues - with some success. So we can cater for you if you want to test your skills against other local players or other players at the club.
Once a year we have our quiz night in the local parish hall which is very well attended and hotly contested!
Above all Rowlands is a friendly family orientate club, if you just want a regular run around to keep fit or simply knock around with your friends and/or family. Come along and join us - we will make you feel very welcome.
